as a tree cannot stand strong without deep roots – so we cannot grow without a strong connection to the outside world through the first chakra. It provides our sense of rootedness and grounding in the world. Muladhara chakra is attributed to the color red – red is the first choice of the rainbow and is the color of our blood – the color of life – the physical – our most primitive instincts. the base chakra has four petals – representing the four directions – east west north south – the number four is also attributed to the material world. Muladhara keeps us connected to the earth and nature and is nourished by contact with the living earth – it helps us discover our personal roots and gives us a sense of place and stability. Muladhara can help us let go of past feeling and release long held emotions.
